Folio
A private journal, planner, and document archive — kept on your own device.
Folio is a personal journaling app for Android. It holds your diaries and journal pages, a planner with events and tasks, profiles of the people who matter, a document archive with a built-in scanner, and Memo — a small, deliberate way to send a note to someone.
It is built around one idea: what you write is yours. Everything you create is stored on your device by default. The features that reach the network are optional, listed plainly, and can each be turned off without giving up the rest of the app.

Backup to your own Google Drive
Folio can keep a backup of your data in your Google Drive, so a new phone or a reinstall doesn't cost you your writing. It uses Drive's hidden app data folder — the narrowest Drive permission Google offers. Folio can read and write the one backup file it created there, and nothing else: it cannot see, list, or open any other file in your Drive.
The backup can be encrypted with a passphrase you choose (AES-256-GCM). The passphrase is never transmitted and never stored in readable form — which also means that if you lose it, nobody can recover those backups, including us.
Connecting Drive is optional and reversible. You can disconnect it inside the app, or revoke Folio's access entirely from your Google Account permissions page. Deleting your Folio account removes the backup file from your Drive along with everything else.
What Folio doesn't do
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs — none are bundled.
- Nothing is sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes.
- No access to your contacts, your other Drive files, your messages, or your call logs.
